Trademarks & Symbols Volume 2, 1973

Regular price £150.00

This is the second volume of Yasaburo Kuwayama's Trademarks and Symbols. Where the first focused on alphabetical designs this follow up takes a look at "symbolical designs". The primary organisational principle is by shape for those that are abstract, and grouped by figurative relationship for those that are grounded in the concrete. These groupings include Human Figures, Eyes, Tools and Birds, for example, with the abstract being grouped under Circles, Squares and Triangles.

The two volumes of Trademarks and Symbols proceeded and paved the way for Kuwayama's more substantial books Trademarks & Symbols of the World Volumes 1 and 2, which offered a far large set of logos, running to the thousands, and a concerted effort was made to provide complete information on each. Nonetheless, as a historical document, this book remains sought after, perhaps because of the striking colour and composition of logos on the cover.
