Regular price £175.00

Issue 12 of the industry journal from The International Council of Graphic Design (icograda). The series ran from 1971 to 1978 and is made up of 14 printed publications with the final issue being a special double issue (14 & 15)

This industry journal is a unique piece of graphic design publishing history and a pioneer in industry research. Aside from a fascinating look at what design publishing was in the 60s and 70s, its content is rich in text and insight. Each issue covers a range of topics which are presented in a delightful four column grid. Each issue is marked by a striking graphic cover, typographic arrangement and colour.

In this issue; Cyrillic Gothic: formal modifications to the design of a Russian typeface; A sign alphabet from Otl Aicher; Signing system for an Argentinian new town; The language of colour; Pictograms with a Japanese accent; Pictograms with a French accent; Design and semiotics: some aspects concerning the design process; Isotype in the USA; Speculative signing system from Jugoslavia (SIC).

This is a fantastic document, and although light, it is distinctive and a delight to hold and read through. The cover is a real treat, with a fluorescent green that, although has slightly faded on the left-hand side, is a bright and eye-catching. These are hard to come by, however, if you'd like to read any of the icographic issues, these are available at: ico-d.org/resources/icographic
