Issue 1 of the industry journal from The International Council of Graphic Design (icograda). The series ran from 1971 to 1978 and is made up of 14 printed publications with the final issue being a special double issue (14 & 15)

This industry journal is a unique piece of graphic design publishing history and a pioneer in industry research. Aside from a fascinating look at what design publishing was in the 60s and 70s, its content is rich in text and insight. Each issue covers a range of topics which are presented in a delightful four column grid. Each issue is marked by a striking graphic cover, typographic arrangement and colour.

In this first special issue on Viscom 71 and the Congress and Exhibition on the Learning Industry: Speakers at VisCom 71, Congress and Exhibition, Computer animated movies, Differentiating images, Symbol design in the GDR, Two Belgian designers, Armin Hofmann, Design and Science, Holography, Icograda, Icograds exhibition in Prague, Audio-visual hardware, Definition of Cybernetic and Design Organisations in Sweden.

This is a fantastic document, and although light, it is distinctive and a delight to hold and read through. These are hard to come by, however, if you'd like to read any of the icographic issues, these are available at: ico-d.org/resources/icographic
