A LogoArchive Extra Issue in collaboration with New York publisher Standards Manual and designed by Order. This issue tells the story of the Federal Design Improvement Program which includes some of the most iconic American logo designs. The story is told by historian Bill Shaffer and supported by two voices who participated directly in the program itself, Lance Wyman and Valerie Pettis who designed the symbol for the United Nations Women’s Day. This issue unites a diverse set of logos, iconic and unknown, and places these within a fascinating moment in Federal modernisation.

Channeling the visual language of US Federal documents this issue is available in one of four different Colorplan papers which hold an insert printed on a newsprint stock. These have been hit with a double pass of an HP Indigo black and are stitched with black staples.

This issue is made up of 21pp and features 23 logos drawn from USIA and FDIP initiatives. This includes the now iconic NASA, EPA and Bicentennial logos, plus many that are lesser-known, and has been kindly supported by the likes of Richard Danne, Tom Geismar and Aaron Draplin. There's also a loose 1pp USIA sheet that can be used with tracing paper to create your own unique USA "star" motif as intended by designer Michael Goldberg.
