Top Symbols & Trademarks of the World, Volume 9, 1978 Annual
A rare copy of Volume 9 of Top Symbols & Trademarks of the World. Following the release of the first seven volumes in 1973 the editors returned to the project in 1977 with a series of four yearly annuals, 1977, 1978, 1979/80 & 1981/82. This is the second of the four.
Top Symbols & Trademarks of the World was the work of Franco Maria Ricci & Corinna Ferrari. The initial volumes 1–7, published in 1973, was an unprecedented initiative to catalogue many of the finest examples of trademark design of the time. These books are distinctive in their convenient compact format relative to other publications of the same period, offering a practical easy-to-handle reference tool. Each of the volumes is a slim hardback edition with a white silk screen printed cover and carry around 700 trademarks each. Where the initial release of seven focused on a narrow group of countries per volume, each of the four annuals groups these countries into single volumes and expanded their coverage to include countries such as Malta, Isreal and the USSR. These additional volumes function as updates to the initial series. Unfortunately, where 1–7 are hard to find, particularly as a set, 8 to 11 are far harder to source.
